By embarking on this transcontinental journey, you’ll be following in the footsteps of those who have dared to venture beyond the city limits – the legendary adventurers, goldrush prospectors and bush pioneers who forged their lives in Australia’s spectacular yet unforgiving interior.

The Indian Pacific has been making its epic transcontinental crossing between the two oceans that lend it its name for more than half a century. Departing Sydney you’ll journey west, passing through the Blue Mountains, and stopping in Broken Hill and Adelaide along the way. Cross the incredible Nullarbor Plain and pause at Rawlinna, a little outpost in the outback where you’ll dine under a blanket of stars (seasonal). There’s no better way to experience the spectacular interior landscape of Australia.

Broken Hill – Take in a visit to Miners Memorial and Trade Hall dedicated to the over 800 miners who lost their lives labouring here. From October to March, guests can also take a self-guided walk around the captivating Broken Hill Living Desert Sculpture site.
Adelaide – Enjoy a scenic coach ride to one of the world’s premier wine regions, the Barossa Valley. Visit an iconic winery for tastings to savour and enjoy a sumptuous dinner.

The Nullarbor – Hidden in the vast interior of South Australia lies a ghost town that once bustled with life. Alight and wander the Cook township, a time-worn town for a slightly eerie, unique glimpse of pioneering Australia. At Rawlinna, during the winter months, guests will be invited to disembark to partake in drinks, canapes served around a bonfire under the wide Nullarbor skies.

This incredible journey travels from city to outback to city, highlighting the diverse landscapes of this beautiful country, from urban skyscapes to arid plains.

From east to west and back again, the Indian Pacific has been crossing the Nullarbor and traversing the world’s longest stretch of straight railway track for over 50 years. Departing Perth, the first day of your journey is spent embracing life on train, and as the Indian Pacific travels overnight you’ll wake up in the outback with stops in Kalgoorlie and Cook as you travel across the Nullarbor Plain. Pass through South Australia, stopping in the Barossa Valley for an incredible dining experience, as well as Broken Hill and the Blue Mountains on your journey towards Sydney.
Kalgoorlie – Greet sunrise in Kalgoorlie before stepping off the Indian Pacific for an immersive Super Pit experience. Visit Hannans North Tourist Mine, then tour one of Australia’s largest gold mines by mine-spec bus. Learn the Golden Mile’s story, see colossal haul trucks, and rejoin the train for brunch as your rail journey continues east.
Cook Township – Step off the Indian Pacific at remote Cook, a once-bustling railway town hidden in South Australia’s interior. Founded in 1917, its lonely buildings whisper history. Enjoy a nightcap and late-night bonfire beneath the vast Nullarbor sky, counting shooting stars and feeling Australia’s pioneering spirit on this unforgettable off-train experience stop.
Broken Hill – You’ll wake up in Broken Hill, New South Wales. Enjoy a hearty breakfast, ready for the day’s activities in the Silver City. You’ll have a choice of four Off Train Experiences, including guided history, art and cultural experiences that showcase the highlights of Australia’s first heritage-listed city.

Barossa Valley – Disembark at Long Plains and journey to the Barossa Valley for an evening at Seppeltsfield Estate.
